Being Chinese myself, I tend to avoid the Chinese buffet places, and the takeaways. Just because, it's like eating a pizza from PizzaHut and calling it authentic Italian recipes.

However, outside of Chinatown in London, it's difficult to find a place to eat, that's good value for money and is filling. Well, Peach Garden is the perfect place for that.

The setting in the alley near the NCP car park on Pershore Road isn't the ideal setting, but you weren't expecting a 5* Michelin rated restaurant with bells on were you?

Inside, it's small, with diner-type layout with the kitchen area near the front, and tables to the side. However, don't let this put you off, and neither should the lack of English speaking staff put you off either.

The menu consist of BBQ Pork - 'Char Siu', Roast Duck, Soya Sauce Chicken, Roast Pork, Beef, dumplings, and also traditional Chinese offal and cuttlefish. So if you're not a fan of offal, don't go for it, is all I can say.

However, the Roast pork is succulent and crispy and so is the duck, which you can have as part of a meal with rice (fried or boiled) or noodles (soup or fried). I usually have boiled rice, which comes with pak choi, and roast pork and bbq pork, which is really tasty! That comes with chinese tea, or if you like you can have soya milk or various other drinks which are additionally paid for. This is all for the price of 6.00 approximately (depending on the meal itself).

But this is a much nicer tasting and better option than say Mcdonalds or a takeaway, if you're in the area. And has the feel of many Hong Kong based diners that serve roast meats.

It's a little cafe style restaurant in the Chinese quarter. It is small but quick and easy to sit, order your food to eat in or takeaway.

The menu has some pictures for some dishes and is in English and Chinese.

It's popular with Chinese especially students so you will be lucky to get a table! It can be draughty when the door opens.. So I closed it myself when someone left it open!

Dishes are about £6-8 each depending on meat selection as they have duck, chicken, pork etc.

I go there once in a while. It's fine if you are in a hurry!

If you're hungry and craving good Chinese food then this is the place for you. You can easily buy a very substantial portion of duck rice or soya chicken rice for less than $7.50. All in all, I always eat here when I travel to the city centre. Don't let the store's small size and simple design fool you. The food here is worth the try!!
